About Me
I Grew up in Grand Cayman where my parents were teachers, and my brothers and I lived a wild, carefree childhood where we spent long days outdoors exploring caves, building forts and rafts, reading and pretending. This childhood was the catalyst to a wild imagination and a sense of adventure. Since I can remember, I have wanted to write, and though I pursued an undergraduate degree in Biology, and a master's in education, my heart was always in the written word. Nearly five years ago I decided to apply to Harvard's Creative Writing and Literature graduate program and was accepted. I took classes part time while raising my five children and teaching English and Speech and Debate, and loved every minute of it. During this time, I wrote two novels and numerous short stories. "The Rapture of the Deep" is the culmination of these short stories, and I am currently querying agents for one of the two novels: "Sara's Two Portraits." My short stories have also appeared in several journals and magazines. In addition to writing and reading, I love the sea, night sky, scuba diving, impromptu adventures (two of which have taken me on an Everest Trek, and to the summit of Kilimanjaro), and ballet, which I have been doing since I was three. My current project is a historical fiction novel about Ernest Hemingway. If it is a rainy day, you can find me curled up with a classic novel, or wandering on the windswept beach near my home.
